Yet more news!

This has definitely been an exciting weekend. Friday night we went to the Yankee Doodle Pops downtown. Rob and I and his parents (Shirley and Larry) loaded up into the mini-van and sat down by the river to watch the fireworks over the buildings. (Get it, in a van down by the river? Thank you Chris Farley) There are few times that I am actually impressed with Des Moines, but I do love the look of downtown. But the traffic? Not so much. We had a good time, had some fun with the in-laws.
Saturday there was a pool party next door, Shirley had her side of the family over. It was nice to see everyone, we haven't all gotten together in a while. Danielle came back over that evening and we all roasted marshmallows in the fire pit (a wedding gift from Randy. Good gift!)and talked (got drunk). We went for a swim too! It was FREEZING! We had a good time though, and didnt get to bed til 5:30 am. Whoops!
This weekend had one very special surprise. My friend Melissa had to get admitted to the hospital for her pre-eclampsia on Friday. They wanted to watch and make sure everything was ok with her and the baby. Pretty scary. We went up Saturday night and spent some time with her, everything was fine with her and the baby but the drs werent going to let her go home yet. No talk of inducing or anything. She said she was craving Deviled Eggs, so on the way home i got some eggs to make for her and take up Sunday.
Woke up Sunday morning with Gus on the phone. Melissa's water broke at 2am! Well, i guess she doesnt want the eggs :) She delivered a little boy, Vincent at 5:51 pm Sunday, July 3rd. One day after his Daddys 24th birthday. He is 6lbs. 10oz., 20.5 in. long and doing great. Congrats guys, cant wait to see him.
I think that is most of the exciting news this weekend. It's been a busy one! Tomorrow we are going to go visit the new baby and hopefully get some swimming in too. Then, it's back to the grind on Tuesday. Ugh.
